LINA CHOI
Lina Choi was born in South Korea and currently lives and works in London, studying in MA Sculpture, Royal College of Art. She explores a relationship between society and its people and focuses on each individuals own identity, individuality, personality, sexuality, or interest. She looks into how people express their own identities under the invisible or visible social rules, through cultural hegemony and the expectation to conform to society as a member of it, by interacting with others.
Lina works with sound and speakers to record individuals voices and the sounds around her. She then transforms them into other forms, with the aim of giving visual power to our personal narrative. She has had several exhibitions in London and residencies in Cambridge, UK and Lisbon, Portugal. Recently, she has run a sound workshop, A Harmonious Cacophony, with BA Art and non-art based students at UAL and ILSC in London.
