GREG FARNDON

(b. 1973 Coventry, UK)

Greg Farndon explores themes of identity, language and the human condition. He translates current events, personal history and media soundbites to create works that engage the viewer with deconstructed arrangements and reinterpretations of everyday occurrences. His process of recording and reordering information by building subtle base layers of partially erased text and motifs with overlaid, frenetic swathes of colour and shape, offer new, distorted visuals.

The works offer intuitively deft dialogues that can shift between political issues of the day to domestic contexts, but always with an underlining humour and irreverence which offers both light and dark sides to each composition.

Greg attempts to deconstruct and reassemble aspects of daily life, particularly the barrage of information we face. By reconfiguring these via a process of abstraction and minimal mark making he produced new visual allegories that are equally engaging and ambiguous with a spontaneous yet refined edge.
