TAMAR SHEAFFER
Tamar Sheaffer was born in Israel. She is an interdisciplinary artist engaged mainly with installation and drawing. After a career in the computer industry she studied art, and got an MFA degree from Haifa University in 2011. She exhibited in solo and group shows in Israel and Europe, including a group exhibition in Tel Aviv museum, the Israeli biennale for drawing, the Israeli paper biennale and the Jewish museum in Turin. In 2016 she spent six months in residency at the Cite International des Arts, Paris and in 2019 she was a fellow at the Bogliasco Foundation, Genoa, Italy.
Hybrid creatures/entities are a central theme in her work. These hybrids connect elements from different worlds (mechanical, organic, architectural), each retaining its original identity, forming together a new entity. Through them, she tries to address boundary blurring between categories (between real and fake, moral and immoral, man and woman etc), boundaries that seemed clear in the past.
