JANIS GOODMAN
Janis is a Leeds (UK) based printmaker, working out of her own studio. She learned printmaking through evening classes at Leeds College of Art in the 1990s and was particularly attracted to the process of etching. She is engaged in portraying the tension in the relation between the artificial and the natural; the manmade environment and the anarchic forces of nature and entropy. This is shown through a series of different relationships such as the study of plants overwhelming abandoned buildings, and the wild energy of birds forcing space for themselves despite peoples’ best efforts to thwart them.
