LUCY STEVENS
Lucy is a multidisciplinary British contemporary artist and amateur birdwatcher whose work explores our relationship with the natural environment. She draws inspiration from ornithology and colour theory. Her projects often include working in collaboration with experts in the natural world including scientists, museum curators, ornithologists, photographers and musicians. She creates mixed media abstract portraits of birds on paper and sound works developed from gathering field recordings. Her digital illustrations and collages demonstrate her collaborative work with wildlife charities to visualise scientific reports.
These three works were created in collaboration with scientists from the British Trust of Ornithology and Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust to interpret avian reports correlating the decline in prey population and freezing temperatures with the decline in bird population numbers.
Lucy lives and works in Leicester (UK). Her work has been shown in exhibitions and art fairs across the East Midlands and London. She has also taken part in artist residencies in Scotland, Brussels, France, and Sweden.
