PAMELA CROWE
Pamela is an artist and writer based in Leeds (UK). She makes text, video, audio and photographic work about power, voice and proximity, intimacy and loss. She regularly exhibits, publishes and performs live and online. She was shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize 2019, National Poetry Competition 2020 and her poetry collection The Bell Tower is forthcoming with The Emma Press. Auto door is a work about inexplicable acts of violence set in Leeds. It situates the poetic work as a script from which to bodily scope or project the artist’s own form. The process holds three parts: Text (the Body), Photographic Image (the Index) and Video (the Voice). The text is a sculptural medium from which the body takes form. This is captured as photographic image, an index; she’s referenced. Finally, the video takes the body and the index, adds voice and the person is realised. To find her, you look for reference.
