RICHARD BAKER
Richard is a painter who is drawn to objects that may otherwise be overlooked. The Sanctity of Small Routine is one in a series of paintings investigating semi-social spaces. Hotel rooms, train stations, hospitals and short lease homes are rendered still and silent, belying the transitory and chaotic nature of their purpose.
His paintings have been exhibited at The Royal Academy of Arts, London, The Mall Galleries, London, The Hix Gallery, London, The San Francisco Arts Institute and Leeds City Art Gallery, and various museums across China and Poland. In 2020 Richard's work won the Wells Art Contemporary Patron's Prize. In 2019, won The Hix Award and was runner up in the LCA Prize. In 2018 his work was selected for the John Moore's Painting Prize Exhibition, Columbia Threadneedle Prize Exhibition, Lynn Painter-Stainer’s Exhibition, and Discerning Eye Exhibition. Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2012, 2009).
