KATE JENNINGS
(b. 1994 Great Yarmouth, UK)
Fuelled by historical and contemporary social movements, Kate Jennings explores the use of art and screen printing as a form of protest. Often using found text in news and media articles, her posters employ the use of layered typography and bright colours to criticise and comment on the current political climate. She finds inspiration in the See Red Women’s Workshop (1974-1990) and American artist Corita Kent. She is based in Leeds and is Creative in Residence at Leeds Arts University. Kate has recently exhibited at the Old Red Bus Station in Leeds, The Art House, Wakefield; and was selected to install her work in Kirkgate Market as part of Arts Fest.
