GARETH KEMP

Gareth Kemp works from his studio in Liverpool. He studied Art History, then started to paint around 2006. In 2014-2017 Gareth developed and invigorated his practice on the Turps Banana Correspondence Course with a number of prestigious mentors. His paintings have since become sought after for exhibitions. This Could Be Eastern Europe was selected for the John Moore’s Painting Prize in 2016 and five of Gareth’s paintings were selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018. The artist won second prize in the Bankley Open in 2017, and in the same year he was nominated for the Paul Hamlyn Award for Visual Arts. He has exhibited internationally, at Berlin’s Sluice Art Fair (2018) and in Art – Letter Home, an exhibition that toured across China (2018-19). In 2018, Kemp received Arts Council England funding to spend four weeks in Texas carrying out research and raising his international profile. His work is held in private collections in Europe and USA.
