Gillian Holding’s oil paintings of anonymous figures are informed by the dissonance, paradoxes and absurdities of a society unavoidably engaged in a fragile, uncertain, balancing act. She originally qualified as a lawyer and practiced in London and Paris as a commercial and competition law specialist and partner in a leading corporate firm. She changed career to study Fine Art and graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2009 with first class honours and the Historical and Critical Studies Prize. The artist is a studio member of East Street Arts in Leeds and has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally.
